This week’s question comes from Doreen:

“Aloha beautiful professional love couple, :0)

Just one question: how is it possible for you to access (or work or get to know) the sub-/unconscious mind content from anyone as the name says already… it’s sub- &/or unconscious?

How could I or you or anybody else get to know all the weird stuff from my unconscious mind in order to delete or change it???

I’m really wondering… :0)

Thanx in advance!

Enjoy your weekend and precious life!

Doreen”

Dear Doreen,

Thanks for the lovely greeting. We understand why you would have this concern as it is difficult, if not impossible, for most people to access their own subconscious mind. So how could someone else do it?

The key is to understand that just because we use the words sub/unconscious to describe this part of us does not mean that it is inaccessible. It just means that is does not communicate or operate in the same way as the conscious mind.

Our conscious mind is the part of us that is making decisions, solving problems, and creating systems to understand and control our environment. This is the part that you would think of as you, the “captain of your ship.”

The subconscious mind includes all of our emotions, our imagination, and our learned behavior. It is not directive, meaning it does not make decisions it is only responding to external information. The subconscious does not evaluate like the conscious mind does.

The conscious mind is constantly looking at information and making judgments. The subconscious only has two criteria – known and unknown. Known is good. Unknown is bad. The subconscious is also responsible for maintaining homeostasis. Homeostasis is the process of keeping things the same.

Think of your body. Your subconscious controls temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, etc. If any of those functions are off by a small amount you could die. The subconscious treats all behavior the same way. Its job is to keep things the same – your behavior, your emotional reactions, your experience of the world.

This is useful because it allows us to have a consistent experience. We know what to expect from ourselves and from people we know. However, it can get in the way of making changes. Not all of our learned behavior is useful, but the subconscious is resistant to change because that learned behavior is known and therefore good.

Now the most frustrating part of this is that the subconscious controls 90-95% of our behavior. The conscious mind is only really controlling 5-10% of your everyday experience. You can see why it would be so important to be able to access the subconscious in order to create positive change.

Which brings us back to understanding how the subconscious communicates. You can’t just tell it to do something different. You cannot say to your subconscious, “Stop getting upset when he forgets to open the door for you!” because that program is known and therefore good.

The subconscious communicates to us in several ways. The first is through symbol, story, image, and metaphor. The best example of this is your dreams. These weird stories that we experience while we are sleeping are your subconscious integrating new information or venting out old emotion.

The other way the subconscious communicates is through the body. We use the same word “feeling” to describe two different experiences. The first is physical sensation, “How is your leg feeling?” and the second is emotion, “How are you feeling about what happened?”

The truth is physical sensation and emotion are the ways in which your subconscious draws your attention to something important. Physical pain is an indication that there may be something physically wrong that needs attention. Emotions are an indication that something about this situation needs attention.

When you start paying attention to the physical sensations that you experience while you are feeling an emotion, then you are starting to listen to your subconscious. Where you experience the feeling is also important information about what is going on. You can think of the body as metaphor for your subconscious or another way to think about it is that your subconscious lives in your body.

We have very powerful processes we do everyday with our private clients and with the participants in our group programs that access the subconscious mind to create changes in behavior quickly. These tools speak the language of the subconscious and change limiting beliefs, emotional patterns, and learned behaviors so that our clients can create the love they want.

If you want to be able to experience this deep transformation, then reach out to us about Private Coaching. We currently have two spots open for new clients. You can get a risk-free strategy session application here: Private Coaching Application

We hope this helps you understand what is going on and how we can help you to transform your story of struggle into one of ease and grace when it comes to love.

Love and Abundance,
